Here is an inspiring story from one of last years grant winners

MISD teachers are making a difference in the lives of their students with the help of the MEF!

Grant recipient instills love of reading in Kindergartners at Price T. Young. With the help of the Marshall Education Foundation, Michelle Bruce, Kindergarten Teacher at Price T. Young, created a Listening Center in her classroom. Over the course of two years, Mrs. Bruce has been able to purchase the CD player device, three sets of headphones, and numerous sets of books. The students listen to the story and follow along in a book which helps them with word recognition, pronunciation, and develops a great foundation as the young students learn to read.

When asked about the listening center, one student replied, “We read every day and we like all the books. We like to read and it’s good to read because you can learn all the stuff and you can know everything in the whole wide world.”

Last year more than $50,000 in grants were given to Marshall ISD Teachers to improve student learning, in areas such as new instruments, innovative seating arrangements and technology to enhance the classroom effectiveness of our teachers! To continue this terrific response we would ask.

The MEF funds 100% of Maverick University (College Credit classes taught at MHS) through generous donations.
The MEF is a 501(c)(3) and all donations are tax exempt.
The MEF is an all-volunteer organization.
The MEF hosts the MHS Top 10% Banquet each year. This banquet highlights the Top 10% of the MHS senior class & a teacher that has made a difference to each student.
We raise money through a variety of fundraisers including The Big Mav Give, The Maverick Mile Color Run & the Back the Mavs Night.

2nd Annual Maverick Mile Color Run

Join us for a fun, family friendly, color run!
You can walk, jog or run your way through the safe route beginning at the front of the high school. There will be color stations along the route where you will get doused with color as you go by!

Day of the Event Registration will begin at 12:15 followed by The Greater Marshall Chamber of Commerce ribbon cutting at 12:45 to start the race!

Grant Applications Set a New Record

Great News Grant Applications to the Marshall Education Foundation Set a New Record

Marshall Education Foundation Receives a record number of Grant Applications for the 2017/2018 School Year!

This year the Marshall Education Foundation has a great problem, such as. One hundred and forty five grant applications were received for the 2017/2018 school year! This exceeds previous application totals by nearly 300%, because of this, “We are excited to partner with teachers to improve student learning this year!” When asked about the increase in grant applications and funding, Hill replied “I believe we spent a lot of time in front of teachers this year getting them informed and simplifying the application process!” As well, “Our board worked tirelessly from promoting and soliciting donations this year. We had Merry Maverick Movie Night, the Homecoming Back the Mav’s event, even a bucket truck to bail out the High School principal! These along with the May donor drive came together to make it the best fundraising year ever.”

MEF Plans to give a Record amount in Grants for the 2017/2018 School Year of $50,817!

Because of this fantastic response we are looking forward to awarding a new record of $50,817 in grant requests this year to MISD Teachers! This phenomenal response is due to the generous contributions of the community and tireless work of volunteers.

While in years past the Foundation has given up to $25,000 dollars to assist students and teachers. Grants have funded everything from reading materials, technology, classroom furniture, and specialized niches and cubbies to improve student learning. Teachers are eligible to apply for grants annually to assist them increase involvement and improve outcomes for their learners. The Foundation encourages innovative ideas and projects to make a difference in student lives.

The Marshall Education Foundation exists to improve student learning in Marshall Independent School District. The Foundation seeks to achieve this by providing innovative and targeted micro-grants to improve classroom learning. Typical grants are between $500 and $1500 dollars annually.
