Marshall Education Foundation Receives a record number of Grant Applications for the 2017/2018 School Year!

This year the Marshall Education Foundation has a great problem, such as.  One hundred and forty five grant applications were received for the 2017/2018 school year!  This exceeds previous application totals by nearly 300%, because of this,  “We are excited to partner with teachers to improve student learning this year!”  When asked about the increase in grant applications and funding, Hill replied “I believe we spent a lot of time in front of teachers this year getting them informed and simplifying the application process!”  As well, “Our board worked tirelessly from promoting and soliciting donations this year.  We had Merry Maverick Movie Night, the Homecoming Back the Mav’s event, even a bucket truck to bail out the High School principal!  These along with the May donor drive came together to make it the best fundraising year ever.”

 MEF Plans to give a Record amount in Grants for the 2017/2018 School Year of $50,817!

Because of this fantastic response we are looking forward to awarding a new record of $50,817 in grant requests this year to MISD Teachers!  This phenomenal response is due to the generous contributions of the community and tireless work of volunteers.

While in years past the Foundation has given up to $25,000 dollars to assist students and teachers.  Grants have funded everything from reading materials, technology, classroom furniture, and specialized niches and cubbies to improve student learning.  Teachers are eligible to apply for grants annually to assist them increase involvement and improve outcomes for their learners.  The Foundation encourages innovative ideas and projects to make a difference in student lives.

The Marshall Education Foundation exists to improve student learning in Marshall Independent School District.  The Foundation seeks to achieve this by providing innovative and targeted micro-grants to improve classroom learning.  Typical grants are between $500 and $1500 dollars annually.
